The song features Preacher Dale and four of his characters, but the question beneath the laughter is one we all need to consider: how often do we take a little spark and turn it into a fire?

Read the message behind the song
A half-sentence becomes a whole story. A second-hand comment becomes a full-blown accusation. A tiny bump becomes a mountain. Sometimes we get angry over things we mostly made up.
That is not just a gossip problem. It can become a mental-health problem too. When assumptions run wild, they can feed anxiety, offense, bitterness, suspicion, and division.
What Scripture says
- James 3:5–6: The tongue is small, but it can set a great fire.
- Proverbs 18:13: “He who answers a matter before he hears it, It is folly and shame to him.”
- Proverbs 18:17: The first side of a story can sound right until the other side is heard.
- Proverbs 26:20: “Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; And where there is no talebearer, strife ceases.”
- Philippians 4:8: Think on things that are true.
That word “true” matters. Not assumed. Not exaggerated. Not repeated because it sounded juicy. Not passed along because it made us feel important. True.
Before we repeat it, react to it, post about it, or get angry over it:
- Do I know the whole story?
- Is this mine to tell?
- Am I helping heal it—or am I helping blow it up?
